If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever... (Brandon lee from the Crow, some movies should never be remade, simply because there is nothing to improve, its complete, its Divine...)

Starting today, a Sketch every saturday! will try to keep up this habit as honestly as i can, this one turned out pretty decent, have improved a lot in the shading, but still a long way to go! :) 

All About Dudeism

Jeffrey 'The Dude' Lebowski  from 'The Big Lebowski', arguably the best Coen brothers movie (although the world says 'Fargo', but i found this one to be superior), really liked this movie a lot so was doing some research on it, then stumbled upon a rather amusing fact, that this movie has spawned a religion called 'Dudeism' which follows the Dude's philosophy and his way of life i.e. to take it easy. There are thousands of serious followers of this religion which has a church (The Church of the latter-day Dude) and Dudeist Priests! Every year Dudeist from all around the world meet up for the Lebowski fest, where they dress up as characters from the movie, go bowling, have white russisans (Dude's favourite drink) and Basically have a great time Takin it easy. Its not just a Mock religion, its like a modern form  of Chinese Taoism, blended with concepts by the Ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus  and presented in a style as personified by the character of "The Dude".

Here's an interesting Description of Dudeism i stole from Wikipedia,

The Dudeist belief system is essentially a modernized form of Taoism purged of all of its metaphysical and medical doctrines. Dudeism advocates and encourages the practice of "going with the flow", "being cool headed", and "taking it easy" in the face of life's difficulties, believing that this is the only way to live in harmony with our inner nature and the challenges of interacting with other people. It also aims to assuage feelings of inadequacy that arise in societies which place a heavy emphasis on achievement and personal fortune. Consequently, simple everyday pleasures like bathing, bowling, and hanging out with friends are seen as far preferable to the accumulation of wealth and the spending of money as a means to achieve happiness and spiritual fulfillment.

Whatever it is, Mock religion or not, makes more sense to me than the Religious lunatics hell bent on proving their Superiority, wouldn't the world would be an awesome place if everyone introduces a little bit of Dudeism in their lives? Don't know about you guys, but i'm certainly gonna try it, or Shall i say 'the Dude Abides' :)

My entry for Maac india's paint your bappa contest, time taken: 8 hours, Tried to capture the mighty side of lord ganesha in this concept in three stages, lord ganesha is a deity which is often depicted in a lighter tone, with child like features and innocence, so wanted to try something different and portray him in an authoritative posture as if standing on earth and protecting it from all troubles and obstacles.

A homage to one of the greatest and often underrated Batman villians of all time Bane. The only man who broke the bat. just loved the way Bane was portrayed by Tom hardy, but still wish that it would've been super awesome if the 'Vengeance of Bane' storyline was incorporated for the character's origin.
